Course Dates For 11084NAT ACT Course in Asbestos Awareness - Online via Zoom

Course Format
This is a 4 hour online training programme undertaken with a trainer present. All participants will be required to have access to a computer with a webcam and internet connection.

During this programme participants will be made aware of what asbestos is, where it could be found, what effects it can have on their long term health and what to do if asbestos is located.

English
The programme is delivered and assessed in English. If you do not have a good understanding of spoken and written ENGLISH, this course is not for you. You would be better suited to our face to face ACT Asbestos Awareness course run every week at Guildford.

At the beginning of the online training, the trainer will assess all students ability with English before progressing.  If your English is assessed as not acceptable for online training, you will not  be allowed to continue.  So please DO NOT BOOK for this online training if you are not competent in written and spoken English.

Computer Support
Before booking this online programme, please ensure you have the following computer support.

  • A Windows or Apple Computer system:
    – Mac OS X with Mac OS 10.10 and higher
    – Windows 7 and higher.
  • Your computer will preferably have Google Chrome, but Internet Explorer or Firefox can also be used.
  • You will need a stable internet connection
  • Your device will need to be able to play sound for online modules
  • For Zoom classes you will need a Windows or Apple computer with speakers, microphone and webcam.

Accreditation
All successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment and a plastic card showing their name, and that they have successfully completed the required training as per WorkSafe ACT qualification 11084NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness. The accreditation documentation will be forwarded to you by post within five working days after the course completion, please ensure you book with a postal address where you can receive this certification. The Statement of Attainment will also be emailed as a pdf after successful completion the training session.

The unit of competency issued under qualification 11084NAT is NAT11084001– Identify and report asbestos containing materials.

We can also at the completion of this program conduct the NSW Asbestos Awareness legislation update, and provide a Statement of Attendance in NSW Asbestos Awareness at no extra charge.

The Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 requires that a person conducting a business or undertaking must ensure that all of their workers who they reasonably believe will work with asbestos or asbestos containing materials attend face-to-face training in 10675NAT – Course in asbestos awareness. These workers include construction workers as well as a number of other workers in occupations declared by the Minister.

This training provides the participants with the knowledge to identify and understand the dangers of asbestos, an awareness of its possible locations in the work place and the procedures followed if asbestos is detected or assumed.

Who is required to do this training?
All workers who work in the occupations listed in the Minister’s declaration of occupations, regardless of how long they have worked in the job, their level of seniority, their qualifications and regardless of whether they are licensed or an apprentice are required to complete training.
