Day 1

 

Module 1 Enter & Work in a Confined Space & Enter Confined Space

  • The WHS Act, Regulations, Confined Space Code of Practice and the Australian Standard AS 2865
  • Definition of a Confined Space
  • Responsibilities of management, employees, contractors and all parties
  • Strategies for implementing the Confined Space Legislation
  • Typical confined space control measures: tripods, gas detection, ventilation & breathing apparatus reviw

 

Module 2 Work in Accordance with an Issued Permit

  • What is a permit
  • Confined space, heights, hot work, excavation permits etc
  • Permit contents
  • Your legal responsibility when working with permits

 

Module 3 Conduct Hazard Analysis

  • Assessing risk: Work task risk assessments
  • Identifying hazards
  • Risk ranking hazards
  • Introducing control measures
  • Complete a formal confined space risk assessment

 

Day 2

Module 4  Gas Test Atmospheres

  • Assessing atmospheric hazards
  • The respiratory system
  • Toxic gases, their effects and safe exposure levels
  • Explosive gases/vapours and safe exposure levels
  • Oxygen hazards and safe exposure levels
  • As detection equipment, operation, safe use field calibration
  • How to test for suspected atmospheric hazards that are beyond your current equipment capabilities

 

Module 5  Issue Permits

  • Review confined space procedures and controls
  • Review of risk assessment
  • Complete of the Confined Space Entry, Heights & Hotwork permits
  • Brief permit
  • Set up and use entry/exit equipment
  • Carry out rescue scenarios on training deck using breathing apparatus etc

 

Module 6  Conduct Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Perform CPR procedures
  • Communicate all details of the incident
  • CPR will be performed on an adult  & baby manikan
  • You will operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) training version
