Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) & CPR Training

• Commences at 730am
• Please arrive, park and check in by 7:20am
• Completion of training is 3pm

Participants will be required to:

• Apply relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measures
• Inspect and place rescue equipment
• Identify and label the isolation point
• Perform a rescue from a low-voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace procedures

Participants will be reviewed in:

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

• Relevant ARC guidelines to manage unconscious breathing and no breathing casualty and provision of CPR
• Understand your legal, workplace and community considerations
• How to correctly administer CPR
• Perform CPR as a single operator
• Follow prompts from an automated external defibrillator (AED)
• Perform CPR with another person
• Perform CPR on an infant

Low Voltage Rescue

Emergency procedures for the rescue of a victim from a live LV panel encompass:

• Inspection of rescue equipment
• Assessing hazards to rescuer, victim and others
• Isolation procedures, where appropriate
• Ensuring safe approach distances (SAD) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
• Involvement of external emergency services
• Placement of rescue equipment
• Controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
• Maintaining SAD appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
• Removing victim to safe location/place of safety

Participants must:

• Be at least 15 years old
• Suitably attired, including closed footwear
• Understand that this training will require you to participate in physical, practical exercises
• Ensure you are fully aware of the risks prior to participating and understand the control measures employed

Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) training provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low-voltage electrical apparatus safely. The course covers essential rescue techniques, risk assessment, use of safety equipment, and emergency response procedures. LVR is a mandatory competency for electricians, apprentices, and anyone working on or near energised electrical installations in NSW.

Industry and regulatory expectations require LVR and CPR to be refreshed every 12 months. This ensures electrical workers maintain current rescue skills, understand updated procedures, and remain compliant. Many NSW (and nationwide) employers and contractors will not permit work on live systems without proof of current annual LVR and CPR accreditation.

LVR and CPR validity go hand-in-hand; you can’t have one without the other. This is because CPR is a core component of the rescue process; if CPR has expired, the worker is no longer deemed competent to perform a safe low-voltage rescue. For this reason, Sydney Safety Training ensures CPR is completed first, and both qualifications align on the same accreditation date.

Sydney Safety issues the current nationally recognised unit of competency UETDRMP007 – Perform rescue from a live LV panel. This unit replaces the superseded UETDRRF004. All participants are trained and assessed to the latest industry and regulatory standards.

The combined LVR & CPR training typically runs as a short day course, beginning with the CPR component at 7:30am and finishing by 3pm.

Participants should wear standard work attire and comfortable, appropriate footwear, and valid photo ID (driver’s licence, passport, official proof of age card).

Yes. Sydney Safety delivers LVR and CPR training under a Registered Training Organisation, and the UETDRMP007, UETDRMP007 and HLTAID009 (CPR) units issued are nationally recognised throughout Australia. Successful participants receive statements of attainment that meet industry, contractor, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Training is delivered at the Sydney Safety purpose-built training facility in Villawood, Sydney, NSW. The centre is equipped with dedicated electrical training panels, CPR practice stations, and practical rescue equipment, ensuring participants receive realistic, hands-on experience. However, we can also conduct off-site training at your workplace provided the cost of a group booking is $2,000.

Yes. Sydney Safety provides group training sessions at our Sydney facility and can deliver on-site LVR and CPR training for workplaces across Sydney and surrounding NSW regions. On-site training is ideal for electrical contractors, facility teams, and businesses wanting consistent, workplace-specific competency for their staff.
