Course Information
Working at Heights simply means when a worker can fall from one level to another and sustain an injury as defined in the WHS Act. Elevated work platform training is compulsory in NSW for all workplaces where falls from structures of two metres or more pose a risk. Make no mistake, this training has the potential to save lives and should be a workplace management priority.
Sydney Safety Training provides several accredited Sydney heights safety courses based on the Code of Practice, which we detail here. And remember – all course training can earn participants Continuing Professional Development points (CPD).
When do we run Our Safe “Working at Heights” courses?
Courses commence at 07:30am and you need to check in at 07:20am please.
We conduct regular courses every week at our Guildford Training Centre from 7:30AM to 3PM and on at least one Saturday each month.

Overview of the Height Safety courses
The Height Safety training course is a nationally accredited course that covers theoretical and practical aspects of working safely at height.
The height safety training is designed to equip workers with the knowledge and skills to safely work in any height situation.
Participation in our training programme ensures your staff actually fit a harness, establish an anchor point, connect to a lanyard, connect and operate a rope grab, use a twin tail lanyard for climbing ladders, use a temporary and a fixed TYPE 1 ascending device to climb and descend ladders, connect to a static line using an inertia reel and a twin tail lanyard, climb a pole and set up a pole strap to work in restraint, conduct a self rescue using a descender and participate in a heights rescue using at GOTCHA Kit.

Who are the courses for?
This training is for any person who needs to work at height and requires a national accreditation regardless of which state of Australia they are working. People in control of a business must be aware that if there is a risk of injury from falling then provisions need to be made to prevent such falls, appropriate equipment made available and appropriate training is to be provided.

Group and off-site Bookings
We can also book in groups of employees on any date as agreed upon, either at our training centre or your site. For site training all we need is space to set up our “Height Safety Training Trailer” to allow us to conduct the appropriate practical skill development in a safe and positive way. Our trailer is 6m x 2m x2m high, and is stabilized for training and provides your staff with a realistic, but safe training experience.

Course Overview:
This is the course everyone needs to have when they are considered to be working at height. It serves as a prerequisite for many more advanced levels of relevant training.

Course Overview:
Although there is no expiry date for your “Safe Work at Heights” ticket, the national WHS Act requires PCBUs to prove currency of training of their workers (employees or contractors). Many larger companies typically impose a policy that certification will not be accepted onsite if it is older than two years. So you should consider conducting Working at Heights refresher training regularly, and we suggest that you do not exceed three yearly.

Course Overview:
The Working at Heights rescue training is an additional day of certification. You will be eligible for this training after you have completed the Safe Working at Heights course. This day is dedicated to performing rescue from height, using numerous height rescue kits and methods.
A person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) who implements a fall-arrest system to control risk must establish emergency and heights rescue procedures. The procedure must be tested so that they are effective. Workers must be provided with suitable and adequate work at height emergency rescue plan information, instruction and training.

A Statement of Attainment will be issued through RTO Safety Training:
- PUASAR022 – Participate in rescue operations
Course Start Time:

Course Overview:
This Pole Top Rescue course is designed to train persons working at height on poles that support overhead electrical lines to affect the rescue of a workmate who is suspended in their PPE.
Work at Heights Certification:
Successful completion of this training, attendees will receive a statement of attainment in:
- UETTDRRF02 – Pole top rescue
- HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Both are issued through RTO Safety Training #40992.

Course Overview:
Tower Rescue training applies to personnel working on towers or similar structures. In accordance with the WHS Act, these persons must be able to perform a tower rescue when required.
These personnel have already completed a nationally accredited Safe Work at Heights course, and will now gain additional height safety skills.
Work at Heights Certification:
Successful attendees will receive a Statement of Attainment from RTO#91173:
- PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation
- UETTDRRF04 Tower Rescue
- HLTAID009 Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation

We conduct weekly public Height Safety Training courses at our Guildford Training Centre, located in the centre of Sydney near Parramatta. We can also book in groups of employees on any date as agreed upon, either at our training centre or your site. Please understand that site training requires a suitable practical area, where we can safely access heights to conduct effective training. We will normally conduct a no cost site inspection prior to site training for suitability and safety of all involved.
Our one day Height Safety Course provides students with a sound understanding of how to set up and work safely at height in all situations. The course covers working in fall restraint, working in fall arrest, establishing appropriate anchor points, safe use of ladders, working from scaffolding, working in EWPs, using horizontal static lines, inertia reels and how to conduct a heights rescue. Practical exercises cover the correct fitting of a harness, specific knot tying, setting up rope grabs, conducting a self rescue as well as conducting an overhead rescue of a suspended worker.

Safe Working at Heights Services
At Sydney Safety Training we try and cater for all of your working at heights requirements. Our focus has and will be nationally accredited competency based courses, and we have found that as a result of providing these programs, other services and needs arise.
Working at heights equipment hire is available here at Sydney Safety Training. You may need heights gear to work safely from a roof or ledge. There may be a need to have a rescue kit to comply with standards in case of a rescue. You may even require using a tripod and rescuing device to lower workers in and out of an area to work from. When working from heights, you must have a rescue plan, hence the need for rescue equipment. All this heights equipment and more can be hired for daily or long term use from us at Sydney safety training.
Safe working at heights audits, risk assessments and rescue plans can be arranged for you, by us. Working from heights areas must be identified, and a risk assessment and rescue plan must be carried out prior to working there. This is another service we can provide.
The sale of heights equipment and other PPE is another service provided for here at Sydney Safety Training. Items such as tripods, rescue devices such as Gotcha kits, harnesses, spreader bars, and other PPE are available in STOCK, and these items are tagged prior to sale and an equipment register is created and supplied as part of the sale. This ensures that your new equipment is compliant and current. We can also tag and test your own equipment and this is usually turned around in less than a day, simply drop off at the centre. Alternatively our staff can arrange to come to your facility, tag your equipment, and then create a register and email you a copy as part of the service.
