
BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
Sydney Safety Training offers the nationally recognised qualification BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
This 5 day face-to-face qualification applies to individuals working in a work health and safety (WHS) role who provide a broad range of technical knowledge and skills, and have some limited responsibility for the output of others. During the programme you will be given assessments to complete and submit in your own time, which will relate to the training you have been provided during the programme.
The qualification applies to those working as supervisors, WHS personnel, and workers in other WHS-related roles who manage risks effectively, apply relevant WHS laws, and contribute to WHS within the workplace in known or changing contexts with established parameters.

All courses run for 5 consecutive business days starting on a Monday from 830am – 5pm. Price is $1495.00 per course. You need to book minimum 14 days before the course commences so that you have time to complete the pre-course requirements.
Course is conducted at Sydney Safety Training, 211 Woodville Road, Villawood, NSW 2163 (opposite Bunnings). You can drive your car, or you can come by train, Villawood train station is a short walk.
- Basic workplace experience, such as supervisory or team leader roles, or experience in WHS-related activities
- Sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to read, understand, and complete written assessments and workplace tasks
- Access to a workplace for observation of WHS processes
- Basic computer and internet skills to complete course online learning and your own laptop computer.

Total number of units = 10 which is made up of 5 core and 5 elective units.
Our five day face to face programme is based around teaching the following ten units of competency. The units marked (C) are compulsory, the others are elective. So if you already have attained other units different to the electives above as shown below, you can request a credit transfer to replace the non-core units we are teaching in the course. This then in effect reduces your work load to gain your Cert IV in WHS. For a better understanding please read packaging rules below.

5 core units (C) plus
5 elective units, of which:
- 3 units must be from Group A below
- the remaining 2 units may be selected as follows:
- both may be selected from Group A, Group B or any currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course at the same Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level
- 1 may be selected from a Certificate III or Diploma, from any currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
