Where Online Safety Training Works, and Where It Doesn’t
Online training is a genuinely good fit for general inductions, policy refreshers and awareness-level content. It’s less suited to four things that matter most in high-risk work.
1. Physical Skills Need a Physical Assessment
Practical safety training puts an assessor in the room to watch a skill performed, not just mark a quiz about it. A multiple-choice question can confirm someone read the material. It can’t confirm they can fit a harness correctly or recognise a hazard before it becomes an incident.

2. Real Equipment, Real Conditions
Working at Heights, Confined Space entry and Asbestos Removal all involve equipment and environments that don’t translate to a screen: harnesses, gas detectors, breathing apparatus, an actual confined space to enter.
