Is Silica and Asbestos the Same Thing?
No – there are many differences between silica and asbestos, and they are two entirely separate minerals. Whilst both are hazardous materials you will find in many industrial settings, silica dust is released when some stones, bricks, tiles, mortar and even plastics are drilled, ground or cut. Silica dust can cause major diseases, including cancer, affecting the lungs and kidneys.
In contrast, asbestos fibres are found in dated insulation and fireproofing materials. Exposure can result in mesothelioma, a rare and aggressive cancer, lung cancer, pleural disease and more.
How Long Does the Combo Silica and Asbestos Awareness Course Take?
This day course starts at 7 am sharp and finishes at 3:30 pm. It includes a half-hour break for BYO lunch.
Is the Asbestos and Silica Awareness Training Canberra Course Mandatory?
Whilst the course per se is not mandatory, ensuring you have the correct training and accreditation is a legal requirement in the ACT. If your work risks coming into contact with asbestos or silica, you must undertake appropriate awareness training. Sydney Safety courses provide you with all the necessary regulatory training.
Does Sydney Safety Training Offer Group Training?
Yes – you can book this course as a group.
