Lead Accident Investigator Responsibilities

When might this training be applied in real-life circumstances? Anticipate anything from equipment malfunctions, human failings to organisational systemic failings.

It falls on the investigation team to appropriately identify the immediate, underlying and root causes of an accident and to outline the most appropriate actions and controls.

Lead investigators will also be required to identify the key events leading up to an incident, the effectiveness of immediate resulting actions, and the post-incident events that may also impact overall outcomes.

Additionally, they are required to work with team members to encourage reporting of incidents (particularly those that may be classified as Dangerous Incidents) and assist with WHS notification requirements.

Responsibility also typically falls on the Lead team to secure the scene and ensure it is safe or restricted until the hazard is removed or properly mitigated.

ICAM Investigation Training Participant Testimonial

October 2020 –

I’ve obtained 9 tickets over the last few years at a variety of RTO’s. SST is by far the best training centre. The instructors do more than just prep you to pass a test, plenty of practical, hands-on learning. Well worth the drive if you live far away.
